vs. Jesuit
April 29, 2004

The third game against Jesuit in the three game series was to determine if Brother Martin would hold sole possession of third place in district.  It would prove to be a dog fight going into extra innings with a packed stadium.  Chris Cappo took the mound and gave an outstanding performance for 7 complete innings, striking out 7.  Jesuit would use 5 pitchers for this one.

In the top of the first, the Crusaders were unable to score.  In the bottom of the first, the Blue Jays began with a hit, but would witness yet another double play by the Crusaders from Ryan Hebert to Stephen Landry to Chris McIntyre
In the second, the Crusaders began with a single by
Matt Thorne, followed by singles from Chris McIntyre and Stephen Landry.  Ryan Hebert hit a double scoring the three runners on base.  In the bottom of the inning, the Blue Jays managed to score 1 run on 1 hit, making the score 3 - 1 in favor of the Crusaders after 2 innings of play.

Neither team scored in the third.  In the fourth, the Crusaders were unable to score, but the Blue Jays scored 3 runs on 2 hits.  In the fifth, Ryan Hebert led off with a single, his second hit of the evening.  Richard Duncan and Matt Adams followed with singles.  The Crusaders were able to score 2 runs on 3 hits.  In the bottom of the inning, Chris Cappo struck out 2 and the Blue Jays were held hitless in the fifth.  The score after 5 innings of play was 5 - 4 in favor of the Crusaders.

In the sixth, neither the Crusaders nor the Blue Jays scored.  In the top of the seventh, the Crusaders could not widen their lead.  In the bottom of the inning, Jesuit scored 1 run on 1 hit in order to tie the game and bring it into extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, Chris Cappo faced one batter and then
BJ Rodrigue entered to close the game.  The first batter he faced flew out to Josh Radovich in left field.  The runner on first advanced to second on a passed ball, so the next batter was intentionally walked.  The following batter struck out for the second out of the inning.  The next batter hit a fly ball to left field that fell just inside fair territory as Josh Radovich made a diving attempt.  The Crusaders dropped this one in a valiant effort and entered into a three way tie for 3rd in the district.  Playoffs for the playoffs begin on Sunday.
