vs. Holy Cross

Brother Martin finally got the opportunity to face Holy Cross for the third game in the series after being postponed twice because of weather.  This game opened up at Holy Cross amidst nice skies.  The Crusaders opened up strong in this game.  BJ Rodrigue began the inning with a homerun over the left field fence!   Matt Adams followed with a triple.  Matt Thorne walked and Chris McIntyre was hit by the pitch.  A balk allowed Matt Thorne to score.  The top of the inning ended with the Crusaders scoring 3 runs on 2 hits.  In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers were held scoreless on 1 hit.  Nice line drive catch by Stephen Landry and outfield catch by Josh Radovich.  In the second, both teams went scoreless.

In the top of the third, Chris McIntyre led off with a single, but the Crusaders were unable to score him.  In the bottom of the third, the Tigers went hitless.  Nice defensive plays by Lance Lepine on a line drive and Brad Treuting on the fly ball to right.  In the fourth inning, Holy Cross would use three pitchers.  Ryan Hebert lead off the inning with a homerunRichard Duncan followed with a single, and BJ Rodrigue, Matt Adams, and Matt Thorne walked.  Chris McIntyre was hit by the pitch for the second time in three innings.  At the end of the inning, the Crusaders had scored 4 runs off of 2 hits.  In the bottom of the fourth, Holy Cross remained scoreless and witnessed yet another double play by the Crusaders - Stephen Landry scooped up the ball, touched second and then threw to Chris McIntyre.

In the top of the fifth, BJ Rodrigue led off with a double, his second hit of the afternoon.  Matt Thorne followed with a single moving BJ to third, but both were left on base.  In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers scored 3 runs on 3 hits. 
In the top of the sixth, Brad Treuting led off with a single and Josh Radovich laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Stephen Landry followed with a single.  Ryan Hebert hit into a fielder's choice, but picked up the RBI.  At the end of the inning, the Crusaders scored 1 run on 2 hits.  In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers scored 1 run on 2 hits.  BJ Rodrigue came in to pitch relief.  He struck out the first batter he faced and caused the following batter to hit a fly to Josh Radovich in left - nice catch.  The score at the end of 6 was 8 - 4.

That would be the final score with the Crusaders making their record 7 - 7 in district.
