Brad Treuting took the mound for the second game in the Brother Martin - Jesuit series. The Crusaders would have a slow start to this one. Jesuit would have to use 3 pitchers to finish this one off.
In the top of the first, the Blue Jays were able to score 1 run off of 1 hit and 1 Crusader error. The Crusaders ended the inning for the Blue Jays on a nice double play from BJ Rodrigue to Ryan Hebert to Chris McIntyre. In the bottom of the inning, the Crusaders went scoreless. In the top of the second inning, Jesuit scored 2 runs off of 4 hits and 0 errors. In the second inning, the lone hit was a double by Chris McIntyre, but he was left on base. In the top of the third, the Blue Jays were retired three up and three down. Unfortunately, the Crusaders suffered the same fate in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the fourth, Jesuit's 1st two batters were put out. The third batter managed to get a single, but was thrown out at second on a pick-off move. In the bottom of the inning, the Crusaders were again held scoreless. In the fifth, the Blue Jays scored 5 runs on 5 hits. Justin Marocco entered the game to finish the inning, striking out the lone batter he faced. In the bottom of the inning, the Crusaders were scoreless.
In the bottom of the sixth, Justin Marocco allowed 1 hit, walked 1, and struck out 3. This fired up the Crusaders and the bats began to come alive. In the bottom of the sixth, Ryan Hebert stepped up to the plate and hit a solo homerun on a 2 - 0 pitch to put the Crusaders on the board. BJ Rodrigue then reached base on a walk. Matt Adams followed with a double, and then Matt Thorne and Chris McIntyre with singles. This left two on base for Brad Treuting who hit a homerun on the first pitch!!! The Crusaders ended this inning scoring 5 runs bringing the score to 8 - 5 in favor of Jesuit.
In the top of the seventh, the Blue Jays were able to post 1 run on two hits. Nice defensive catch by Ryan Hebert in the infield. In the bottom of the inning, Ryan Berry led off with a single followed by Ryan Hebert getting hit by a pitch. However, the Crusaders were unable to put together any more hits to score the runners. Crusaders drop this one 9 - 5.
Following the game, the Duncans graciously held a team party at their house. As usual, there was plenty of good food and great company. Thanks to the Duncans for such a nice evening.
