Holy Cross
April 22, 2004

The Crusaders came ready to play ball on April 22, the second game in the three game series against Holy Cross.  The Crusaders enjoyed an outstanding pitching performance by Brad Treuting, and excellent defensive play by Ryan Hebert at short, who was enjoying his first district varsity start.  Brad struck out 7 and walked none.

In the top of the first inning, the Tigers of Holy Cross scored 1 run on 2 hits.  The Crusaders had their first of four double plays.  This one went from BJ Rodrigue to John Wilson to Chris McIntyre to end the inning.  In the bottom of the first, Richard Duncan lead off with a single, but the Crusaders were unable to score.  In the top of the second, Brad struck out two of the three batters he faced for a three-up-three-down inning.  In the bottom of the inning, the Crusaders had 1 hit by Ryan Berry, but were unable to score any runs.

In the top of the third, the Tigers managed to get one hit, but were quickly retired by a double play from Ryan Hebert to John Wilson to Chris McIntyre.  In the bottom of the inning, Richard Duncan lead off with a triple.  This was followed by base hits from Matt Adams, Matt Thorne, and Brad Treuting.  The Crusaders were able to score 2 runs off of the 4 hits, to put them in the lead by a score of 2 - 0.

In the top of the fourth, Brad stuck out another batter and the Tigers once again experienced a Crusader double play.  This one was from John Wilson to Ryan Hebert to Chris McIntyre.  In the bottom of the inning, the Crusaders were unable to score.  In the fifth, the Tigers were able to score 2 runs off of 3 hits that came after two outs.  For the final out, Matt Adams threw the ball from home to BJ Rodrigue at third for the tag on the runner trying to advance.  The throw by Matt ended what may have been the beginning of a two out rally.  In the bottom of the fifth, Matt Adams and Matt Thorne both walked.  Chris McIntyre hit a sacrifice fly to score Austin Condon who was pinch running for Matt Adams.  Brad Treuting then hit a double and Josh Radovich reached base safely on an error in the outfield.  Ryan Berry followed with a single and then Ryan Hebert with a double.  The Crusaders were able to score 5 runs on the 3 hits making the score 7 - 3 in favor of the Crusaders.

In the sixth, the Tigers got one hit, but were again retired on a double play from Ryan Hebert to John Wilson to Chris McIntyre.  In the bottom of the sixth, the Crusaders got a hit from Matt Adams, but were unable to score.  In the top of the seventh, the Tigers were able to get one hit, but unable to score dropping this one to the Crusaders by a final score of 7 - 3.
