vs. Holy Cross
March 27, 2004

The Crusader parents started the game a bit early at Jane and Jeff Russo's house with a tailgating party.  It was nice to visit with everyone and as usual the food was excellent.  Afterwards everyone walked to Kirsch Rooney for the second district game.  Again, the Crusaders struggled.

In the top of the first, Chris Cappo took the mound with Tony Coletti behind the plate for an injured Matt Adams.  The Holy Cross Tigers managed to score 1 run on 0 hits and 0 errors.  In the bottom of the inning, Matt Thorne had a single that moved BJ Rodrigue to third after a walk and a stolen base, but both were left stranded.  In the top of the second, the Crusaders had some very nice defensive plays by John Wilson at second and Andrew Velez at short.  The Tigers scored 0 runs on 0 hits and 0 Crusader errors.  They left 1 stranded.  In the bottom of the inning, the Crusaders were held hitless.

In the top of the third, Holy Cross managed to score 3 runs on 0 hits and 2 Crusader errors.  Lance Lepine entered the game with 1/3 of the inning to go.  Evan Alvarez started the bottom of the inning off with a hit but was caught stealing.  BJ Rodrigue and Matt Thorne followed with walks, and then Brad Treuting had a single to load the bases.  The Crusaders were unable to score leaving 3 men on base.

In the top of the fourth, the Tigers had 1 run on 3 hits and 1 Crusader error. In the bottom of the fourth, John Wilson drew a walk, but was left on base.  In the top of the fifth, Matt Thorne and BJ Rodrigue made nice defensive plays, and the Tigers were retired 3 up and 3 down.  Unfortunately, the scenario was similar for the Crusaders in the bottom of the inning.

In the top of the sixth, the Crusaders made some nice plays in the outfield.  However, the Tigers rallied to get 2 more runs on 3 hits and 0 Crusader errors.  In the bottom of the inning, Brad Treuting started the inning with a walk.  Stephen Landry was then hit by a pitch, and a wild pitch advanced the runners to second and third, but again the Crusaders were unable to capitalize.

In the top of the seventh, Brad Treuting made nice diving catch in the outfield.  Lance Lepine struck out the next two batters.  In the bottom of the seventh, the Crusaders tried to rally.  Evan Alvarez got another infield hit followed by a single by BJ Rodrigue.  Evan stole third with Matt Thorne at the plate.  Matt reached second on an errant throw by the shortstop which allowed both Evan and BJ to score.  Unfortunately this was to be all the scoring for the Crusaders with the game ending in a 2 - 7 defeat for the Crusaders.

The crew bears a striking resemblance to Coach Lupo, Andrew Velez,
